This is a selection of nine photos and three digitally edited images I took as part of my project about dumped Christmas trees. For Beautifully Dumped I photographed dumped Christmas trees on the streets of Rotterdam, Tilburg, Eindhoven, Groningen, Leeuwarden, Amersfoort, Brielle, Tinte, Maartensdijk, Groenekan and in my hometown of Utrecht.
In my hometown I also collected the roots of dumped Christmas trees. I washed these, dried them and photographed them in my studio in the Utrecht based Vlampijpateliers. Later I also added color. These together form the series The Underworld of the Potted Christmas Tree.
In 2024, I began digitally combining my photographed root material with my love of games, elements that play around Christmas and the death of many trees. This series is still in development.
Themes: sustainability, throw-away society, relationship between people & nature, environment, traditions, together & alone.
